Most of us have heard the expression, "The elephant in the room." I recently heard it again while talking to a friend about knowing when there is one in the room, yet leaving it there and even tip-toeing around such a large animal (topic) because it keeps the peace. The thought of removing the elephant may be too messy and cause damage. Removing it may even bring on a change...which many of us find challenging and uncomfortable, especially if it's been in the room a while. We soon get used to moving around the elephant and call it normal. When in reality, it's taking up space within our homes and hearts.
I Called Her Nan has many elephants in the room examples. The journey from being a daughter-in-law to becoming a mother-in-law can create its own elephant without even realizing it's sneaking into the room. Often, it's the"I didn't know" moments that open the door. Elephants can be words, like an unwanted comment or a hurtful remark. Harmful actions can be an elephant, then it seems to grow larger when an apology is left unsaid which then feeds this unwanted beast.
I Called Her Nan can give you the opportunity to possibly shoo away an elephant before it gets into your daughter-in-law and mother-in-law relationship. Hear about some, "I didn't know" moments that can be the elephant in the room.
Love,
Cathy
