How many times have we gone through a gate to get on the other side of a fence? Sometimes we are greeted by a dog running with its ears flapping in the wind as he heads toward you. Then there are those times when a child comes running to you with arms stretched out wide! How exciting when this occurs!
For me, I came through this very gate many years ago and saw a woman hanging out clothes-wearing shorts and boots up to her calf. Once she saw me and her boy, a smile lit up her face as she shouted, "Hi They-a," in her northern accent. I didn't know that just seeing her boy warmed her heart. I didn't know that I was meeting my future mother-in-law. I didn't know about being a daughter-in-law.
There are gates we come to in our lives not knowing what to expect on the other side. We can choose to just peek through the fence or unlatch the handle and go through the gate. It's then that you can actually embrace what's on the other side.
