Either in a relationship or career, I bet we can all relate to hitting a roadblock of communication or creativity. Soon, the frustration of not knowing how to remove the roadblock turns into giving up or being angry at those around us, even angry at ourselves.
For me...my book, I Called Her Nan, has hit a roadblock. I'm sharing this because, although the book is written, it does no good for daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law relationships, if it's not actually read. Yet how can it be read, if women don't know about its existence? How can I rediscover the passion to promote such an important topic? A topic I am certain God placed on my heart to share.
I keep thinking gosh, who can help me? Then, I remembered that I wrote the book!! Let me help myself first, by doing what I'm asking others to do...read it! So I grabbed a box of tissues and started to reread, I Called Her Nan. The journey from being a daughter-in-law to becoming a mother-in-law.
Here's a sneak peek of a paragraph in chapter 15 that stood out to me.
"Writing this book has allowed me to understand myself better, not just the roles I have in life but how God designed me. I better understand how to use the gifts that have been given to me--gifts that I thought were just something I enjoyed doing without realizing they are intended to glorify Him by sharing with others. With that realization also comes Satan, who has tried to derail this book from being shared in various ways."
I have learned firsthand that Satan knows our weaknesses and starts there to discourage and confuse us. He can make us feel bad about ourselves through our thoughts, as we work through the changes in life that are needed. Especially, if we are trying to break down roadblocks that have been keeping us from helping others and... helping ourselves. At times it can be a painful process yet freeing! You may only be able to remove one block at a time, which can be as simple as a phone call. Although some blocks are heavier and require a lot of prayers. Who knows, what you find on the other side may be what you least expected.
Often daughter-in-law and mother-in-law relationships can start off with a roadblock already in place, and the majority of women don't even know what is causing it! How frustrating can that be?
I Called Her Nan, will hopefully help remove a few roadblocks along the way.
With much love,
Cathy
