Nothing is wasted~

"What started off twenty years ago with a poem and journaling evolved into a story inspired by a woman, I called Nan."

This past week was exciting as I preparing to be a guest on a local Atlanta talk show, In The Burbs! Pushing through fear is no joke! Just like deciding to write a book was putting me outside my comfort zone... or so I thought. There's always that little voice or someone that tells you, "don't do it, you'll look or sound silly." But I knew that this was an important subject and other women deserved the opportunity to see the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship differently.

Even though my book, "I Called Her Nan" is about my experience from being a daughter-in-law to becoming a mother-in-law, don't be surprised if you find yourself inside your own story right from the beginning! It's such a relatable topic.

I often find myself pulling from life's past experience to help direct my steps. This is where one can see that "nothing is wasted." Even as we venture out to try something new, the lessons along the way are never wasted...even if you lose your train of thought and start laughing on a live show!!

Go figure, how my enjoyment of writing jingles/poems/journaling along with how my mother-in-law treated me turned into a book! How a simple walk along the beach one summer morning, helped me do what I wanted to do, and say what I wanted to say. Thoughts I previously tucked away and did not consider useful because I worried what others may think...were what inspired me to step out of what I thought was my comfort zone. Nothing was wasted that beautiful day. I learned that being me... is my true comfort zone.

Happy Mother's Day!
