I recently looked out the window one early rainy morning and thought, what a gloomy day. But while looking out the window I also noticed a church steeple across the street, pointing straight up to the sky. It was like it was saying, "Look up, and you'll see and hear me in everything. It will be a beautiful day."
As my eyes drifted back inside to get dressed and ready for the day, sure enough...
The flowers in the vase whispered, "Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow." Then I started to look around.
The candle in the lantern that sat on the floor reminded me, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light upon my path."
My cozy couch represented the need for quiet time, "Come to me, all you who are weary and I will give you rest."
Even a piece of toast that popped up had something to say, "I am the bread of life."
Try it sometime, while you are at the sink washing dishes or getting a glass of water ... "I am the living water."
Lately, when I go visit my mom with Dementia, I'm learning to enjoy her smiles, newfound gratitude, gentleness, and peace while I'm, "Forgetting what is behind and straining to what is ahead." By doing this I am given a chance to remember the mother of my youth and grow in patience for those around me. As I "press on toward the goal," I've found that it isn't popular or easy at times. Human nature and frustration can find their way from our lips (lol, there's plenty of scripture for that too). In return, we can experience, hurtful words, and judgment being thrown like arrows. However, as we look up at any steeple, and notice that there are no boundaries or walls around them you can almost hear, "I am the way,", and "All sin and fall short of the glory of God."
Know that, "I am with you always."
Recently, I spent some time with my grandchildren :) They filled my love tank with hugs and kisses. "Children are a Heritage from the Lord." As I rubbed their back and placed sleepy kisses on their eyes, I smiled as the steeple appeared again..."Give thanks,"
In Everything.
Have a beautiful day!
