Today I found myself eagerly digging through my book, I Called Her Nan, (The journey from a daughter-in-law to mother-in-law) making sure I stressed the importance of friendships throughout the stories that were told.
The urgency came after my dear friend, Sharon passed away this week. The first thing that came to my mind, is that I'll miss her laugh, her strong yet gentle voice, and our deep conversations. I'll miss the wonderful hugs and kisses on my cheek she gave me each time we saw each other, for this is how she greeted everyone! After working with Sharon for many years, she knew my heart and I knew hers. It created a friendship that would endure the test of time and distance. Our similar characteristics, like being passionate, sappy, and silly kept us crying and laughing whenever we chatted. Our phone calls and text always ended in, "I love you Cath. I'll talk to you soon."
While searching through the pages, I found this paragraph in Chapter 16 titled, Little Things.
"We are all women just doing life and can always use an extra person to count on. If you invest time in others, which involves being more than a casual friend, you will develop these dear friends along the way. If you don't have these kinds of friends, you can always be one."
I dedicate this post to my dear friend...
I love you, Sharon. I'll talk to you soon!
~Cathy
