Sneak Peek, Chapter 18:

"God has given me the courage to stand up for what I feel is important, even if it's only important to me. I would like to say I knew this all along, but I didn't know."

As you begin to read I Called Her Nan you'll find many, "I didn't know" moments about the daughter-in-law and mother-in-law relationship. As I mentioned at the beginning of the book, I am not an author (or wasn't). So as I started to write I also began to learn and realize there was a lot I simply didn't know. Not just about how my mother-in-law may have felt, but how I felt. Maybe that's why most of the feedback from the book is so heartfelt and tearful for some women as they find themselves and their situations inside the pages.

I've learned that what we don't say due to fear of being wrong or ridiculed can possibly be important for another person to hear. Or we may even begin to feel that what we have to say isn't important. Nothing like someone saying, "You should have told me! I didn't know..."

Tell about an, "I didn't know," moment when it came to learning about the women in your life. How could it have helped to have known sooner?
