Sneak Peek:
To write this poem I needed a place to start,
So, I closed my eyes and felt the words just flow from my heart.
To some, she was known as Marion. To others, Babe was her name.
The grandchildren called her Nanny. Will you play a game?
The other eleven verses in this poem describe who my mother-in-law was. This poem is where my book really began and I didn't even know.
After"I Called Her Nan" was written, I was trying to decide where this poem would fit in the story...in the middle or at the end? But once I reread it I realized it belonged at the beginning. It was the beginning! Throughout the pages are bits and pieces of the poem even the bench on the cover has meaning.
When I closed my eyes over twenty years ago, it was to see the woman, I called Nan.
At the time, I didn't see my daughters-in-law, I didn't see myself walking in Nan's shoes and I surely didn't see myself writing a book!
It's amazing how much more we can see when we allow ourselves to be still, and close our eyes every once in a while. You may end up seeing things you never dreamed you could do.
