Sneak peek:
"The general image and anticipation of mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law were created by women from past generations, which can make these future relationships potentially uncertain from the start. Of course, it depends on whose story you hear."
As a young woman, I believed anything I heard about mothers-in-law. Yet once I met Nan, what I heard and how she treated me were two different things. I didn't consider being a daughter-in-law as an actual new role in my life. Although it was an exciting thought to become a wife, and a mother one day! I even took being a friend seriously. But I was young and my mother-in-law was older. I didn't know her and she didn't know me. Our ONLY common bond at the time was that I loved her son and she loved him too.
What is your daughter-in-law and mother-in-law's story? Have you been able to change the general imaging of this relationship for other women? If it's a mess, let it be your message. If it's good, use it to grow... a new image!
