One may think, how does the topic of daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law connected to courage? Even the actual writing of a book on this subject didn't bring me courage. Looking back, I see that courage is a continual process of doing something bigger than ourselves.
Courage came when I decided to write down, speak and express thoughts that were tucked inside. Which provided me peace from letting go.
Courage came when I found myself running to feelings that seemed to make me frustrated, angry, and confused instead of running from them. This allowed me to accept the things I could not change.
Courage came from the tears shed along the way. This allowed and led me to discover what makes me feel alive, driven, and fulfilled.
Courage came from letting go of how I thought things should be. This allowed me to move forward, even if it was in a direction that I didn't realize life was taking me.
"I Called Her Nan," has many courageous moments sprinkled throughout the pages. As an example, my own daughters-in-law even wrote a chapter in the book. They expressed how they saw me as the boyfriend's mom, then how their vision changed after I became their mother-in-law. Wow, now that was courageous!!! :)
The book, "I Called Her Nan" will hopefully provide courage to those who read it. The results?...well, that depends on you!
