As we all know, our name is important. Hearing our name spoken automatically personalizes a conversation. For me, knowing what to call my mother-in-law was a silent dilemma I had for many years. Early in our relationship, I was embarrassed to ask her what name she would like to be called. Here's how I handled this topic at the time...
Sneak peek from chapter 4: Wedding Bells
"The name Mrs. Lopes seemed too formal. Babe was too casual. Marion didn't seem to fit. So, I chose not to call my mother-in-law by any name at all! I wonder if she even noticed?"

Funny on this one...Mumsy was the name that worked for me! I didn't have a mom and my MIL wasn't really my MOM so I went with Mumsy - fun, whimsical and unique...as these were the things I associated with her!
Cathy did a wonderful job of telling HER story and at the same time helping me to see MY relationships from a new perspective in order to improve communication as a mother-in-law and knowing when to step back. It's a must read no matter where you are on the journey of daughter-in-law and mother-in law.
