A BIG Sneak Peek~

Different Paths: Chapter 12

At this point, you may be saying, "But you don't understand my situation! You don't understand my mother-in-law (or daughter-in-law)." You are absolutely right! Yet I must ask, do you know this other woman? Have you actually taken the time to sit a moment, to try and understand or learn about her?

Not every daughter-in-law was raised the same. Some may have challenges or hidden hurts. Some may be healthy and happy. Some may have been abused emotionally, physically, or verbally...

Not every mother-in-law was raised the same. Some may have challenges or hidden hurts. Some may have led a great life raising their families while some may be tired, weary, or lonely...

Looking back, I probably would have thought: What's the big deal about these relationships? Now, I would say, women are a big deal! Young, middle-aged or older, we are all women of influence.

This chapter starts off powerful. It's a chance to really put yourself into the book. Here's a chance to discover, "I didn't know moments." Here's where walking in someone else's shoes may get uncomfortable. Here's where understanding each other may begin. Here's where you may say, "I'm not reading this book anymore." Here's where you may want to read more :)

Don't forget that Mother's Day is around the corner. Don't miss the chance to give a gift of understanding or just the opportunity to see your daughter-in-law or mother-in-law through new eyes. Share this book together. It solves the question of what to talk about, sort of like breaking the ice! The stories should spark some interesting and hopefully fun conversations together.

These days when I spend a little extra time with my daughters-in-law, I try to remember myself at that season of life. I often ask, "what can I help you with?" It's NOT to say that she needs help...I ask because I desire to help. I remember when my mother-in-law helped me with the little things.

Although it brought me relief, I now know... it made her feel needed and loved.

Writing a comment or sharing your experience may make you feel vulnerable. But you never know what someone else is going through! Your brief story may make another woman feel like she's not alone if she is having challenges with her DIL or MIL. Or your story may be inspiring and hopeful!
